The easyCar application is a .NET application which is used to automatically install and configure networking aspects of new PCs which have been deployed to hundreds of easyCar rental sites. The application runs whilst the PC is booting up and dynamically updates the PC settings to communicate with the wireless routers on site.

REQUIREMENTS

The requirement first surfaced when easyGroup realised that these settings could not be configured within the PC production line. The only other alternative would have been to send networking engineers to hundreds of sites to configure the new PCs. As a longstanding client of ours, easyGroup’s IT director presented us with this problem.

SOLUTION

• .NET complied application which runs natively with the PCs hardware environment.
• Automatic detection of wireless routers.
• Automatic IP address configuration.
• Automatic test procedures such as Pings and Trace Routes.
• Error logging facilities.
• Manual overriding control via a well presented GUI.
• The application has been successfully incorporated into the PC production line and is in use at various easyCar rental sites.
